If you want irrefutable proof that the race improves the breed, look at the very first 911 Turbo, presented in standard version at the Paris automobile show in 1974. It was made possible by Porsche's decision to get started in The Can-Am race with the 917 in 1972 and realizing that its 5-liter engine needed a little boost to be competitive against the Chevrolet of more than 8 liters of the opponent. This boost was provided by the turbocharger.

Originally, the engine of the 930 Turbo had to be based on the 2.7 -liter engine, but the tests showed that the 3.0 -liter engine of the crossroads was preferable, more for its better stopping behavior and Its delay reduces that for its additional power. It was installed in the engine compartment already cluttered with the 911, its turbo KKK blowing at around 0.8 bar to bring the power to 260 hp. He could have had more, but Porsche limited his power mainly so as not to scare his customers.

A "whale tail" rear fin has been installed to help evacuate more air towards the engine and create more descending force at the rear of the vehicle, and wider rear wheels with improved tires combined with passages expanded wheel (+120mm) were added to increase the adhesion of the 911, which makes it more stable.

Each creation begins with a phase of research and of documentation On the model, its origins, her designate but also on the aspect technical.

For example, the artist has chosen to represent the Porsche 917/30 Can-Am because it is thanks to that "turbocharged" technology that the 930 Turbo could see the light of day.

Alban Lerailler generally uses a BIC Medium pen or one Polycromos pencil black that allows him to have features fairly fine while varying the intensity of the colors.

This work is careful and ask for a big mastery To capture all the details of the Porsche 930 Turbo.

After the drawing phase, the artist scans his drawings to be able to clean them and make the layout on professional software.

Each work is certified by a punch signed "Lerailler Gallery"

All the process, from the search phase to the layout phase takes approximately 7 days to the artist.

* This work is not from an official collaboration with the Porsche brand.
