This work is based on the Royal Oak by Audemars Piguet, now considered an icon of Swiss watchmaking and celebrated for its timeless design and exceptional craftsmanship.
Designer Gerald Genta's original mission was to create"a steel sports watch that doesn't exist".
That evening in Basel, the designer drew what would become the Royal Oak in gouache . Genta was inspired by a diving porthole, a childhood memory on the deck of the machine in Geneva. The watch featured an octagonal case with visible screws on the bezel, a distinctive "Tapisserie" dial and an integrated bracelet.
This bold, innovative design was both admired and criticized when it debuted in 1972.

Each creation begins with a phase of research and documentation on the model, its origins and designer, as well as its technical aspects.
The canvas features a drawing of the Lamborghini Miura, representing the golden youth and modernity of the era. But also the scuba diver on the "pont de la machine" in Geneva who inspired Gerald Genta.
Alban's fascination with mechanisms led him to represent the heart of the watch, which is none other than the calibre 2121, the best movement in the world at the time.
The artist has developed a unique method of telling the story of the creation of these mechanical objects through drawing and watercolor painting.
His distinctive style subtly blends the technical precision of the ballpoint pen, one of the designer's signature instruments, with the soft, fluid colors of watercolor.
