After the 550, 645 and 718, the next Porsche model created for the race is 904. The homologation rules stipulated a minimum of 100 units , and since there were not many potential customers for the race, the solution was a road car. In 1962, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche has become the director of design studios Porsche and the designer of the 904.

Designer Ferdinand Alexander Porsche drawing 904 GTS

The 904 opens a new chapter in the history of Porsche by being the first model of the brand to have a central engine series. New technology : fiberglass and resin injected into the mold of a body. The use of plastic was a first For Porsche, hence the use of the advice of German aviation experts "Heinkel" for the construction.

For the engine, Porsche had hoped to be able to house the new Six cylinders type 901 developed to face the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but the Porsche engineers were then not convinced of his reliability. This is why the Porsche competition department turns to the Four cylinder type 547 1.6 liters from the Porsche 356 Carrera 2 which will equip the majority of Porsche 904

The car is then engaged in many events, it is experiencing an inaugural season brilliant With victories in various illustrious races such as Sebring, the Targa Florio, the Tour de France, the 1,000km of Paris ... and a victory in the 2L category at 24 hours of Le Mans 1964.

Alban Lerailler generally uses a BIC Medium pen or one Polycromos pencil black that allows him to have features fairly fine while varying the intensity of the colors. For colors, the use of watercolor is appreciated by Alban for its nuances and its foundation depth.
